Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and RecoveryTools. They cover how you may use DVRXaminer and our website, what you pay, how refunds work and the limits of our responsibility. Please read them before you download or buy the software.
01 Agreement to these terms
By downloading, installing or using DVRXaminer, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the software or website.
If you use DVRXaminer on behalf of an organization, a law enforcement agency or a forensic lab, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these terms for that body, and "you" in this document means that body.
You must be old enough to enter a binding contract in your country to buy the software or accept these terms.
02 Who we are
RecoveryTools makes DVR and CCTV video forensics software. In these terms, "RecoveryTools," "we," "us," and "our" mean the RecoveryTools entity that provides the software or service to you. "Software" and "DVRXaminer" mean the RecoveryTools DVRXaminer application. "Website" means dvrxaminer.com and its subdomains.

03 Your licence to use the software
DVRXaminer is licensed to you, not sold. Your right to install and use it, what that licence allows and the limits on it are set out in full in our end user licence agreement, which applies whenever you use the software.
In short, one licence lets a single user run the software on Windows computers they own or control, for personal, business, investigative or forensic use. A licence key, where one is issued, identifies your purchase and should be kept private.
04 Acceptable use
The end user licence agreement lists what you may not do with the software, such as copying, reselling or reverse engineering it. Those restrictions apply here too.
Beyond the software itself, do not use it or the website to break the law or to infringe someone else's rights. You are responsible for having lawful authority over any drive or footage you examine. If you break these rules, your licence ends automatically.
05 Purchases and payment
Prices are shown on the website and at checkout. The licence is a one-time purchase for the current major version, not a subscription.
Payments are handled by our payment providers. You agree to give accurate billing details and confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method. Taxes may be added based on your location.
Your purchase is complete when payment is confirmed and your licence key or download is issued. We may change prices at any time, but a change never affects a purchase you have already made.
06 Free versions and trials
DVRXaminer has a free trial that you can use for as long as you like, within the limits described on the website, such as preview without export. The trial is provided as-is and offers fewer features than the paid licence.
The trial is meant to help you decide before you buy. We may change the terms of the trial for future downloads.
07 Refunds
The licence comes with a 30-day refund. If DVRXaminer is not right for you, email support@recoverytools.com within 30 days of purchase and we will refund it.
Full details are in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms. Refunds are returned to your original payment method.
08 Updates and support
We release updates to fix issues, improve the software and add support for more DVR and NVR systems. Updates within the major version you bought are free.
The software may check for updates over the internet. You can turn that check off in the settings. A future major version may be a separate paid upgrade, and we will say so clearly before you buy it.
Support is provided by email and, during business hours, by live chat. We aim to reply to most messages within one business day.
09 Intellectual property
RecoveryTools and our licensors own the software, the website and everything in them, including code, designs, logos and text. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you. They grant only the licence described above.
The RecoveryTools and DVRXaminer names and logos are our trademarks. You may not use them without our written permission, except to refer to the software fairly and accurately.
10 Third-party and open-source software
The software includes third-party or open-source components. Those components are covered by their own licences, which apply alongside these terms. Where a component's licence conflicts with these terms, that component's licence governs for that component only.
The software runs on Microsoft Windows. Windows is a product of Microsoft Corporation. RecoveryTools is an independent developer and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft, or by any DVR, NVR or CCTV manufacturer named in the software.
11 Privacy
The software does its work on your Windows computer. The drives and footage you process stay on your machine, the source is read only, and the software does not send telemetry about what you do. Our privacy policy explains what limited information the website and payment process handle, and it forms part of these terms.
12 Disclaimer of warranties
We work hard to make the software reliable, and we test every release on real hardware. Even so, the software and website are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not promise that the software will be error-free, that it will recover every file or that it will run without interruption. Recovery depends on the condition of the drive and whether footage has been overwritten. Always work from a copy or a write blocked source when the evidence matters.
13 Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RecoveryTools is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data or business interruption, arising from your use of the software or the website.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the licence in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14 Indemnification
You agree to cover reasonable losses and legal costs we incur if a third party makes a claim against us because you used the software in a way these terms do not allow, because you examined a drive or footage you had no authority over, or because you broke the law or infringed someone's rights.
15 Termination
Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms. You may stop using the software and delete it at any time. If your licence ends, you must stop using the software and remove it from your devices.
Sections that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law, continue to apply after your licence ends.
16 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the software and the law change. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted where practical.
Using the software or the website after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, stop using the software and website.
17 Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts at Delhi, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, unless mandatory law in your country of residence requires otherwise.
Nothing in these terms takes away consumer-protection rights that the law of your home country gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.
