RecoveryTools builds forensic software that does its work on your device. Privacy is not a feature we added later. It is how the software is built.
This policy explains what information we handle when you use the software and website, why we handle it and the choices you have. It applies to dvrxaminer.com and to the software we distribute under the DVRXaminer name.
02 What the software collects
DVRXaminer processes drives and footage locally on your Windows computer. When it scans a DVR drive, recovers a clip or exports video, that work happens on your machine. The source drive is read only. We do not receive your drives or footage, and there is no analytics or telemetry reporting what you do inside the software.
The only network request the software makes is an optional check for updates. That check sends the software version and your Windows version so we can offer the right update. You can turn it off in the settings. The software does not require an account to work.
03 Information you give us
You share information with us directly when you do any of these things.
- Buy a licence. Our payment provider processes your payment and passes us your email and order details.
- Contact support. We receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
- Subscribe to updates. We store your email address to send you product news until you unsubscribe.
We use this information only for the purpose you gave it.
04 Information collected automatically
When you visit dvrxaminer.com, our servers and analytics record standard technical information. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view and the site that referred you.
We use this to keep the site secure, fix problems and understand which pages are useful. It is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
05 Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies make the site work. Analytics cookies help us count visits and see how the site is used.

Payments are handled by our payment provider. When you buy a licence, you enter your card details on their secure checkout. We never see or store your full card number.
Our provider shares with us the details we need to complete your order, such as your email, the licence purchased and the amount paid. Their handling of your payment data is covered by their own privacy policy.
08 Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run DVRXaminer, and only so they can do their work for us.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public. If RecoveryTools is ever part of a merger or sale, information may transfer as part of that deal, and we will tell you first.
09 How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it. Order and billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Support messages are kept while they are useful for helping you. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

RecoveryTools works across borders. The providers we use may store or process information in countries other than yours, including India, the United States and the European Union. When information moves across borders, we rely on safeguards that the law recognises, such as standard contractual clauses.

The software and website are not aimed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. We keep the amount of information we hold small on purpose, which is the strongest protection of all.
