End User Licence Agreement
This agreement is the licence for DVRXaminer, the DVR video forensics software you install. It sets out what you can do with the software, what you cannot and the limits that come with it. By installing or using the software, you accept it.
01 Licence grant
When you download the free trial or complete a purchase, RecoveryTools grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use DVRXaminer. The software is licensed to you, not sold.
This agreement covers the software itself. Your purchase, refund and website use are covered by our terms of service, and these two documents work together.
02 Scope of your licence
Your licence lets you use the software in the ways below.
- Install and use the software as a single user on Windows computers that you own or control.
- Use the software for personal, business, investigative or forensic purposes.
- One licence covers one user. For multiple users or a site licence, contact us.
- Make one copy for backup, kept only as a backup.
The free trial offers fewer features than the paid licence, such as preview without export. The licence still applies to it in full.
03 What you may not do
Your licence does not allow you to do any of the following.
- Copy, resell, rent, lease, sublicense or redistribute the software.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except where the law expressly permits it.
- Modify, translate or create derivative works from the software.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark or licence notice.
- Use the software to break the law or to infringe someone else's rights.
If you break these rules, your licence ends automatically.
04 Licence keys and activation
A paid app may come with a licence key. The key identifies your purchase and unlocks the paid features. Keep it private. You are responsible for activity under your key.
Your licence is not tied to one machine. You can move the software to a new Windows computer and enter the same key. If you lose your key, contact us and we will resend it.
05 Updates and versions
We release updates to fix problems, improve the software and add support for more DVR and NVR systems. Updates within the major version you have are covered by this licence at no extra cost.
The software may check for updates over the internet. You can turn that check off in the settings. A future major version may be a separate paid upgrade, and we will make that clear before you buy it.
06 Ownership
RecoveryTools and our licensors own the software and everything in it, including the code, design and trademarks. This agreement grants you a licence to use the software. It does not transfer any ownership to you.
All rights that we do not grant you here stay with us.
07 Third-party and open-source components
The software includes third-party or open-source components. Those components come with their own licences, which apply alongside this agreement. Where a component licence conflicts with this one, the component licence governs for that component only.
The software runs on Microsoft Windows. Windows is a product of Microsoft Corporation. RecoveryTools is an independent developer and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft, or by any DVR, NVR or CCTV manufacturer named in the software.
08 Data and privacy
The software does its work on your Windows computer. The drives and footage you process stay on your machine, the source is read only, and the software does not send telemetry about what you do. The only network request it makes is an optional check for updates, which you can turn off.
Our privacy policy explains the limited information the website and purchase process handle. It forms part of the agreement between us.
09 Term and termination
Your licence starts when you first install the software and continues until it ends. It ends if you stop using the software and remove it, or automatically if you break the rules in this agreement.
Once the licence ends, you lose the right to use the software and should delete it from your devices. Anything you did within the licence while it was active stays valid.
10 General legal terms
The software is provided as is. The disclaimer of warranties, the limit on our liability and the governing law that apply to your use of the software are set out in our terms of service, and they apply to this licence in the same way.
In short, three things hold. We cannot promise the software is free of every error or that it will recover every file. Our liability is capped at what you paid for the software. Any dispute is handled under the law named in the terms. Always work from a copy or a write blocked source when the evidence matters.
Nothing here takes away consumer-protection rights that the law of your home country gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.

Do I own the software after I buy it?
You own a licence to use it, not the software itself. The licence is yours to keep for the version you bought, within the rules in this agreement.

Can I move my licence to a new computer?
