Recover Intelbras DVR FootageMHDX, iMHDX, NVD and VD Recorders on the Dahua Format
Intelbras is the recorder brand most Brazilian homes and shops end up with, and its MHDX and NVD lines are built on the Dahua platform. When a recording is apagada, the HD stops being recognised or the senha is lost, the HD can be removed and read on a Windows PC. The video on it survives all three problems.
Intelbras DVRs and NVRs are Dahua OEM recorders, so the HD inside holds the Dahua recording format and nothing Windows can mount. To recover deleted Intelbras footage, unplug the recorder, remove the HD, connect it to a Windows PC through a SATA adapter and refuse any offer to initialise it. Recovery software that reads the Dahua format lists the recordings by channel and time, marks the deleted ones and writes them out as MP4. The recorder password plays no part.
The Intelbras range runs from the MHDX hybrid DVRs and iMHDX models with analytics to the NVD and iNVD network recorders and the older VD line. All of them share the Dahua core: the same menus under an Intelbras skin, the Dahua DAV export format and Dahua's way of laying video onto an HD. The iSIC Lite and Guardian phone apps and the SIM Next and SIM Play PC clients are Intelbras names on the same platform. The Dahua recovery notes on this site apply to every one of these recorders.
What does an Intelbras HD look like to Windows?
Like an empty disk. The Dahua platform writes its own structures: a partition that Windows cannot identify, an allocation table the recorder keeps for itself and video stored in sequential chunks with a short Dahua header on each frame group. Disk Management shows the HD as a RAW or unallocated volume and offers to initialise it. The Intelbras manual itself warns against reading the HD on other equipment, which is vendor caution about accidental writes, not a statement that the video is unreadable. Decline the initialise prompt and the recordings stay where they are.

How is deleted footage recovered from an Intelbras DVR?
The HD leaves the recorder and is read on a Windows PC without any writes.
- Unplug the Intelbras recorder. With overwrite on, every hour of running costs the oldest hour on the HD.
- Take the HD out. Remove the lid, pull the two cables off the back of the HD and lift it free. On an MHDX with two bays, mark which is which.
- Connect the HD to the PC. Any SATA-to-USB adapter or dock will do. When Windows asks to initialise, choose Cancel. Add a write blocker if the recording is going to a delegacia or an insurer.
- Read the Dahua format. Open the HD in DVRXaminer. It parses the Dahua structures and lists recordings by channel and time, with deleted segments marked.
- Export away from the HD. Save the recordings in MP4 or AVI format to the PC or a pen drive, timestamps included.
What if the Intelbras senha is lost?
It does not touch the recovery, which never logs into the recorder. For the recorder itself, Intelbras asks for a password of 8 to 32 characters with two character types at first boot, and offers several ways back in: the security questions set at activation, a reset code sent to the registered email, the physical reset button on models that have one and a temporary password from Intelbras support by chat or WhatsApp that is valid for the day it is issued. Intelbras does not reset the admin account on request outside those routes, and a run of wrong attempts locks the account for 5 to 30 minutes. The Intelbras password recovery page lists which route applies to which model.
Intelbras HD não reconhecido: is the video gone?
Almost never. An Intelbras recorder that stops seeing its HD is usually reporting a loose cable, a power supply that sags under load or an HD that is wearing out. Intelbras publishes a compatibility list of HDs it has tested, and a drive outside that list can also fail to appear. In every one of these cases the recordings are intact on the platters. The one thing to avoid is the Format option the recorder offers when it finally sees the HD again, because that erases the index and the video with it. Read the HD on a PC first.
Why will an Intelbras backup not play on a PC?
Backups made from the recorder's menu come out as DAV files, which is Dahua's container, and ordinary players do not open them. Intelbras Media Player, a free download from Intelbras, plays DAV, and the Intelbras Backup Tool converts to AVI. Some models export AVI or ASF directly. Recovery from the HD with DVRXaminer skips the container question because the output is MP4. For a DAV file you already have, the DAV to MP4 guide covers the conversion.
What are the chances for each Intelbras problem?
| Problem | Chance | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Recording apagada from the menu | High, until overwritten | Only the index entry was removed |
| Senha lost, recorder locked | High | The HD is read without a login |
| HD não reconhecido | High | A cable or power fault, not a wipe |
| HD formatted in the recorder | Medium | Older chunks survive until reused |
| Recorder dead after a power surge | High | The HD is usually unharmed |
| HD with bad sectors | Medium | Image first, then scan the image |
In short
- Intelbras MHDX, iMHDX, NVD and VD recorders are Dahua OEM units, so the HD carries the Dahua recording format.
- Unplug, remove the HD, connect it to a Windows PC and turn down the initialise offer.
- DVRXaminer reads the Dahua structures, marks deleted Intelbras recordings and exports MP4.
- A lost senha or an HD não reconhecido changes nothing about the recovery.
Common questions
Can deleted recordings be recovered from an Intelbras DVR?
Yes, provided the recorder has not overwritten them. Unplug the Intelbras DVR, remove the HD, connect it to a Windows PC through a SATA adapter and refuse the initialise offer. Software that reads the Dahua recording format lists the recordings by channel and time, marks the deleted ones and exports them as MP4.
Is Intelbras made by Dahua?
Intelbras DVRs and NVRs are Dahua OEM recorders. The MHDX, iMHDX, NVD, iNVD and VD lines share Dahua menus, the DAV export format and the Dahua way of writing video to the HD. The iSIC Lite and Guardian apps and the SIM Next and SIM Play clients are Intelbras names on the same platform.
How do I recover an Intelbras DVR password?
Through the security questions set at activation, a code sent to the registered email, the reset button on models that have one or a temporary same-day password from Intelbras support by chat or WhatsApp. Repeated wrong attempts lock the account for 5 to 30 minutes. None of these are needed to recover footage from the HD.
My Intelbras DVR does not recognise the HD. Is the footage lost?
Rarely. HD não reconhecido usually means a loose cable, a sagging power supply, a worn HD or a drive outside the Intelbras compatibility list. The recordings are still on the HD. Do not use the Format option. Connect the HD to a PC and read it.
Why will the Intelbras DAV backup not open?
DAV is the Dahua container and ordinary players do not support it. Intelbras Media Player opens DAV files and the Intelbras Backup Tool converts them to AVI. Recordings recovered from the HD with DVRXaminer are exported as MP4 and need no converter.
Can I read an Intelbras HD on another computer?
Yes, as long as nothing writes to it. The manual warns against reading the HD elsewhere to prevent accidental changes, which is why the Windows initialise prompt must be declined. Read-only software that understands the Dahua format shows the recordings without altering the HD.
Recover your Intelbras recordings
DVRXaminer reads the Dahua format on an Intelbras MHDX, iMHDX, NVD or VD HD, marks the deleted recordings by channel and time and exports MP4 with the timestamps intact. The free scan shows what the HD still holds before you pay.
